A Universal theme in which religious people address a higher power with thoughts and prayers motivated this quilt. People, shown in silhouette, are standing at the edge of the world in various positions of prayer. Ascending triangles represent these thoughts wafting heavenward through the atmosphere which gradually darkens to outer space. Constant rays return to the whole earth as evidence of the Supreme Being's response to the people. The high contrast, bright colors suggest direct, insistent and pleading prayers. The side panels, made by volunteers echo the windows on the sides of the chancel.
